I’ll give it until tomorrow!
As for this morning’s stories, media outlets are sharing their thoughts on this summer’s incomings and outgoings to and from the Etihad Stadium – and they’re impressed.
Writes Goal.com’s Sam Lee: “Manchester City had a clear idea of who they wanted to buy this summer and, although they were not successful in all their pursuits, they can be very happy with their business.
“Of course, their strategy was geared towards ensuring Pep Guardiola would hit the ground running, and in that respect City have been successful.
“The Blues have started the season with five wins from their first five competitive games, and that’s without three of their main summer signings (Ilkay Gundogan, Leroy Sane and Claudio Bravo).
“It is unknown how many, if any, of those three will make their debuts in the upcoming Manchester derby, but City, who have already shown enough encouragement that they are starting to play the Guardiola way, can be expected to improve when these three key figures integrate into the team.
“But if Bravo slots in as well as John Stones and Nolito then history will show Guardiola to be correct in his decision.
“They are the Premier League’s biggest spenders this summer but they are confident that they have invested in talents that will ensure Guardiola has the players at his disposal to play the type of football that has delivered 21 trophies during his relatively short career.
“And with five wins out of five and three key signings still to be integrated, City can look forward to an exciting season.”
Alex Porter of the Manchester Evening News agrees: “Pep Guardiola is shaping the squad in his image as he plots his first assault on the Premier League title, and the exits make room for the new squad members that have arrived over the summer.
“Claudio Bravo, successor to Hart’s no.1 shirt, was the most recent, while the £47.5m paid for John Stones was the most expensive.
“Ilkay Gundogan and Leroy Sane were also recruited, but have had to wait on their debuts due to injury.
“Guardiola though has had one eye on the future when bolstering his squad and some of the game’s most promising young talent has arrived at the Etihad Stadium this summer.
“Marlos Moreno was signed in August before going out on loan, while Brazilian forward Gabriel Jesus will move to Manchester in December after the conclusion of the league season with Palmeiras.
“City fans have already had a tantalising glimpse of his abilities - he won Gold with Brazil at the Rio 2016 Olympics.
“The link with NAC Breda has also proved profitable for the club’s Academy, with a string of players led by Brandon Barker and Ash Smith-Brown heading to Holland on loan.”
Finally, Paul Merson has expressed his approval too.
Impressed in particular with John Stones and Nolito’s displays this season, he awards City an ‘A’ in his Sky Sports grading of Premier League clubs’ summer activity.
